Michelle Starr-Salazar received her degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas in 1994.
Michelle has been serving in the field of mental health since 1994. She was a Case Manager for the Center For Health Care Services from 1994 to 2008. She joined the Bexar County Mental Health Court team in 2008 as a MH Court Case Manager. Michelle has been the Mental Health Court Manager since 2010.
As manager, she has expanded criteria to serve a broader population which includes co-occurring disorders and assault bodily injury cases. She implemented the use of the 10-key components and best practices. She and her team have developed partnerships with mental health and substance abuse providers. She is in collaboration with various County departments to develop a Felony Mental Health Pretrial Diversion Program.
