Why does my mobile food vending truck require an annual fire inspection and permit?
An operational permit is required annually for any mobile food vending truck; the vibrations and impacts of a vehicle driving down the road cause deterioration of electrical connections and wiring, as well as gas connections and hoses. Hoses and wiring rub against metal parts and can become dangerous, causing electrical arcing or gas leaks. In addition, the fire inspection assures that the mobile food vendors has, and maintains, any required fire protection equipment, such as fire extinguishers or vent hood extinguishing systems.

To meet the annual requirements, an Application for Registered Operation must be completely filled out, and submitted to the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office along with the fee listed on the application. Once the Fire Inspector has completed your inspection and all violations, if any, have been corrected, you will be given a sticker with an individual number that is assigned to your facility, and the year that the sticker was awarded.
