This week, Bexar County Grand Juries handed down 343 felony indictments.
Dwight Sanchez is charged with murder. The indictment alleges that on Sep. 13, 2018, Sanchez intentionally and knowingly caused the death of Zachariah Bostic by shooting Bostic with a deadly weapon (firearm). This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 437th District Court. Murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Monique Scott and Calvin Williams are charged in separate indictments with murder. The indictments allege that on May 5, 2021, Scott and Williams intentionally and knowingly caused the death of Gary Smith by shooting Smith with a deadly weapon (firearm). These cases are being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 175th District Court. Murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Racine Reno Delgado is charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death. The indictment alleges that on May 3, 2021, Delgado intentionally and knowingly drove a vehicle that became involved in an accident that resulted in death to Jerry Alfaro, and that Delgado thereafter, knowing said accident had occurred, intentionally and knowingly left the scene of said accident, without giving her name, address, registration number of the vehicle Delgado was driving, or the name of Delgado’s motor vehicle liability insurer to any person, and without rendering assistance to Alfaro when it was apparent that Alfaro was in need of medical treatment, and said accident resulted in the death of Alfaro. This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 290th District Court. Failure to stop and render aid resulting in death is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Raybert Diaz is charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death. The indictment alleges that on March 25, 2021, Diaz intentionally and knowingly drove a vehicle that became involved in an accident that resulted in death to John Kearney (AKA Herbert Kearney), and that Diaz thereafter, knowing said accident had occurred, intentionally and knowingly left the scene of said accident, without giving his name, address, registration number of the vehicle Diaz was driving, or the name of Diaz’s motor vehicle liability insurer to any person, and without rendering assistance to Kearney when it was apparent that Kearney was in need of medical treatment, and said accident resulted in the death of Kearney. This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 175th District Court. Failure to stop and render aid resulting in death is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Cedric Sillmon is charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death. The indictment alleges that on Nov. 5, 2021, Sillmon intentionally and knowingly drove a vehicle that became involved in an accident that resulted in death to Dana Neal Bauer Jr., and that Sillmon thereafter, knowing said accident had occurred, intentionally and knowingly failed to determine whether a person was involved in the accident and determine whether that person required aid, and said accident resulted in the death of Bauer. This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 399th District Court. Failure to stop and render aid resulting in death is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. A person charged by indictment is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury or a judge. Because these and potentially other cases are either pending or may be under investigation, we can make no further comment on them.
