This morning, a San Antonio man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the 2019 shooting death of his wife.

Brian Jorge Ramos, 41, pled no contest to a murder charge in the 290th District Court. A judge found him guilty of the April 1, 2019, killing of his wife, Josephine. The defendant shot Josephine at least ten times in the back as she attempted to flee the vehicle they were traveling in together. This occurred mid-day in a parking lot near the intersection of Gevers and Fair Avenue.

“This is a horrific example of the level to which domestic violence can escalate. The victim’s three children are now left without either parent. Now that they have had their opportunity to address their father in court, I hope they can find the peace and happiness they deserve,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales.

Judge Jennifer Pena sentenced Ramos to 35 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division. Ramos must serve at least half of the sentence before he can be considered for parole.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer McDaniel and Marsha Perez of the Family Violence Division. It was investigated by the San Antonio Police Department.
