This morning, a 42-year-old San Antonio man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
John Christopher Delgado pled guilty in the 227th District Court. He was arrested March 20, 2020, after a Cyber tip from Google was made to the Texas Attorney General Office’s Child Exploitation Unit that Delgado uploaded child pornography to his Google Drive. Further investigation revealed Delgado and a co-defendant, Olivia Delgado, recorded themselves sexually abusing a young child.
“People who use the internet for this type of activity should not assume they can trade images or videos of child abuse as if there is no one watching. This type of illegal online behavior is something we will not tolerate in our community. The actual abuse of the child is awful, but that these images and videos stay on the internet means these innocent children continue to be abused forever,” said District Attorney Joe Gonzales.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Oscar Salinas of the Public Integrity and Cyber Crime Division.
“This sentence sends a message to those who sexually abuse children in our community that when we find you, we will hold you accountable and you will go to prison,” said Salinas.
Olivia Delgado is currently awaiting trial on a charge of super aggravated sexual assault of a child.
John Delgado must serve at least half of his prison sentence before he is eligible for parole.
