Man gets 40 year prison sentence for beating 93-year-old to death

A San Antonio man charged with the beating death of a 93-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Damian Jimenez, 24, pled guilty to murder in the 437th District Court this morning. Jimenez was accused of confronting Lupe Martinez outside a convenience store on Aug. 16, 2020, then punching Martinez in the face and head multiple times. Martinez died at a hospital from his injuries on Sep. 20, 2020.

Judge Melisa Skinner sentenced Jimenez to 40 years in prison. 

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jason Wolff of the Criminal Trial Division. It was investigated by the San Antonio Police Department.

Jimenez must serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
