This week, Bexar County Grand Juries handed down 227 felony indictments.
Mario Preciado is charged with intoxication manslaughter. The indictment alleges that on Nov. 7, 2020, Preciado operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated, and did by reason of such intoxication cause the death of Arthur Salas by accident or mistake by Preciado driving the motor vehicle into a motor vehicle occupied by Salas. This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 186th District Court. Intoxication manslaughter is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Matthew Theodore Goetz is charged with manslaughter. The indictment alleges that on March 17, 2021, recklessly caused the death of Marquis Anderson by discharging a deadly weapon (firearm) at and in the direction of Anderson. This case is being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 379th District Court. Manslaughter is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Juan Moreno is charged with possession of child pornography. A 21 count indictment alleges that on Sep. 14, 2020, Moreno intentionally and knowingly possessed visual material that depicted, and which Moreno knew depicted a child younger than 18 years of age at the time the image was made, engaging in sexual conduct. Two additional indictments, each containing two counts, allege that on Sep. 14, 2020, Moreno intentionally and knowingly possessed visual material that depicted, and which Moreno knew depicted a child younger than 18 years of age at the time the image was made, engaging in sexual conduct. This case is being prosecuted by the Public Integrity and Cyber Crime Division in the 379th District Court. Possession of child pornography is a third degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. A person charged by indictment is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury or a judge. Because this case is pending, we can make no further comment on it.
