Hiding in Plain Sight: Screening and Panel Discussion
Saturday, May 20, 2023
The Hiding in Plain Sight documentary explores themes of youth mental health and addiction, the importance of awareness and empathy, access to mental health care, stigmatization, and how communities can build compassion and support around young people.
Mental health and substance use is a topic that has and will continue to be relevant to our neighbors, particularly our youth. This event will engage youth, parents, caregivers and educators in our community, as well as explore particular areas of relevance like substance use and recovery.
Bethel Prevention Coalition, KLRN our local PBS station, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Rise Recovery, and the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness have joined together to provide a screening and panel discussion around the film. Our generous partners at WestCare Texas have made it possible for this screening to be free of charge to the public.
We hope to build additional awareness and action around mental health and substance use. Additional community organizations will be in attendance to provide resources to attendees. Our youth are fighting a difficult battle and it takes our community stepping up as a collective to support them.
