Deputy Chief George Saidler - Criminal Investigation Unit

SaidlerGEORGE SAIDLER is the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. He is responsible for the supervision of homicide, violent crimes, property crimes, and plain-clothes units. These units are responsible for the investigation and preparation of cases filed with the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Saidler reports to Chief Deputy Longoria.

A career law enforcement officer with thirty-seven years of distinguished service, Saidler served more than three decades with the San Antonio Police Department. While at SAPD he excelled in multiple disciplines including homicide and robbery units and Instructor of law enforcement procedures. Additional assignments include: Officer Involved Shooting team, the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, a multi-agency effort consisting of state and federal officers including DEA, IRS, FBI, ATF, and ICE, and he was the charter member of the Cold Case Homicide investigation team

His most recent assignment was with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office where he served as Capital Crimes Investigator, preparing and presenting murder and other high profile cases to the Grand Jury for indictment and prosecution.

Saidler is from Bohemia, New York where he spent his youth, then entered the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. During his military service, he received multiple special achievement awards for outstanding service. Selected as one of the youngest Air Force military training instructors (19 years old) he provided instruction, training, and supervision for up to 40 airman trainees every six-weeks.

He has extensive law enforcement training. He graduated from the San Antonio Police Academy and has received more than 2,200 hours of training from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TECLOSE) including training from: Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (Eyewitness Identification), Crisis Intervention Team Training, Shooting Reconstruction Course, Interview & Interrogation Institute, FBI Death Investigation. Saidler currently holds a Master Peace Officers Certification and is a TECLOSE qualified instructor.
