AS BEXAR COUNTY GROWS, SO DO THE NEEDS OF THE BCSO

 In an effort to keep Bexar County Safe while steady growth continues, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is requesting additional deputies to keep up with the demands in our community as the population in Bexar County continues to surge. Earlier today, the BCSO presented our FY 2022/ 2023 Budget Request at Commissioners Court which outlined the needs of the BCSO for additional manpower. In total, the BCSO is requesting an additional 70 law enforcement positions (pg. 7) for our Law Enforcement Bureau. Of the 70 positions; 55 positions would be allocated for patrol, 7 positions for law enforcement supervisors, and 8 positions for investigators. In addition to the 70 requested positions, 6 positions are being requested for civilian support staff.  

During today’s court session, of the 70 law enforcement positions requested, 12 law enforcement positions are being proposed to be granted—the final decision will be made by Commissioners court in the coming days.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the body-worn camera footage of the Damian Daniels’ officer involved shooting that occurred on August 25, 2020.

The video includes 911 calls made to the Sheriff’s Office regarding Damian Daniels and video footage of BCSO patrol deputies speaking to Damian Daniels. The video also includes the shooting of Damian Daniels, viewer discretion is advised, the video contains graphic content and foul language.
