About the DRT Library
Welcome
Welcome to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) Library home. The DRT library was once housed on the grounds of the world-famous Alamo complex.
Housed in the same building as the Spanish Archives, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) Library collection is maintained by Bexar County library professionals. The library holds over 27,000 books, an array of periodicals, historic documents, architectural drawings and more. The emphasis of the collection is Texana materials and San Antonio culture. The core of the repository is derived from the extensive libraries of Dr. William Eager Howard, C. Stanley Banks and Maury Maverick, Sr.
The non-circulating collection features the following:
- Books
- Clipping files
- Family papers
- Maps
- Newspapers
- Periodicals
- Photographs
The emphasis of the collection is on Texas, the Alamo and San Antonio.
Presently the library is closed for upgrades; however, you can search for materials on the catalog.
