Submitting Vouchers
Payment vouchers are typically submitted at the time of disposition, whether it be a plea or dismissal. If a plea is taken virtually, it will typically be included in the plea packet. For dispositions outside of a plea (i.e. a dismissal or a trial), a completed voucher may be emailed or submitted to the coordinator of the court where the case was disposed. The coordinator should then forward to the judge of the court for signature. Once the judge signs the voucher, it is forwarded to the clerks for filing and sent to the auditor's office.
*Please note: vouchers submitted after the disposition of a case should be e-filed and the coordinator of the court should be notified of its filing.
Questions Regarding Claims for Payment
Attorneys new to the wheel should contact the Auditor's office at (210) 335-2243 to set up their vendor profile to ensure that payments can be processed as soon as possible. Court Administration is not involved in the payment process.
For questions regarding payment on vouchers that have been submitted but not paid, please contact the Auditor's office at (210) 335-2243 or contact Yesenia Rocha via e-mail at Yesenia.Rocha@bexar.org. If you have any questions regarding the approval of a voucher, please contact the clerk or coordinator of the court in which the voucher was submitted.

To Pause, Resume OR BE REMOVED FROM Court Appointments
To voluntarily pause the receiving of appointments for a period of 90 days or less, you may submit your request by submitting the Request for Removal or Temporary Hold from Misdemeanor Appointment Wheel. Once an attorney wishes to be placed back on the wheel, they may fill out the Request for Reinstatement to the Misdemeanor Appointment Wheel online form. For any requests that request a leave of longer than 90 days cumulatively within a calendar year will require removal from the wheel. Attorney who were once on the wheel but were removed either voluntarily or involuntarily are required to resubmit an application as a new attorney.
Attorneys practicing in criminal county courts who wish to be removed from the wheel and have their cases reappointed are required to file Motions to Withdraw in each pending case and urge the motion(s) to be heard. Please contact the court coordinator of each court for the procedure in their respective court. All other attorneys practicing in the civil county courts may file their notice with the Bexar County Clerk.
Unavailability Notices
Attorneys who wish to submit a notice of unavailability (or vacation notice) may do so by submitting the Attorney Unavailability Notice for the County Courts. Attorneys who file unavailability notices must notify each court coordinator where any hearing has been set prior to the filing of the notice. Filing an unavailability notice alone does not waive or reset any settings automatically.
Appointment of Investigators
Appointed attorneys are able to be reimbursed for the use of pre-approved private investigators with and without the prior approval of a County Court Judge. For more information regarding the procedures for utilizing an investigator, please refer to the Fee and Expense Payment Process section in the Bexar County Indigent Defense Plan. For a list of pre-approved investigators, please utilize the Criminal District Court Private List for Court Appointments.
