  1. Bexar County Justices Of The Peace

    The Bexar County Justices of the Peace have issued an order regarding their court proceedings. Effective March 16, 2020, all civil and criminal bench and jury trials, and court dockets, scheduled to begin through April 16, 2020 will be reset by a later date, scheduled by the Court – with court dockets limited to essential court proceedings. The Courts will remain open during regular business hours to accept filings, service constituents, and review all matters filed by submission.

Judge Jeff Wentworth is a former US Army counterintelligence officer, former Congressional assistant, former Bexar County commissioner, former regent of the Texas State University System, former state representative, and former state senator.

During his 20 years in the Texas Senate, he authored or sponsored nearly 600 bills covering a wide range of issues that passed the Legislature and were signed into law by the Governor. In addition, he chaired a half dozen special or standing committees of the Senate.  He also served as president pro tem of the Senate and served twice as Acting Governor of Texas.

A Distinguished Alumnus of Texas Tech University School of Law, he served as president of the Student Bar Association and national president of the American Bar Association Law Student Division while a law student.

During his four years in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, he served as cadet chaplain of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, a judge on senior court, and a senior class officer.

A former director of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, he also served on the executive committee of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio.

A former president of the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, Judge Wentworth is a Life Fellow of both the San Antonio Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation.

He and his wife, Karla, have been married for 38 years, and they have two adult sons, Jason and Matthew, and one two-year-old grandson, Warren, who Judge Wentworth claims is perfect.
