PR Bonds
Minimum Personal Recognizance (PR) Bond
Qualifications & Process
The following qualifications are required:
- You must be a resident of Bexar County
- You must be in jail on a Bexar County offense
- You must not be on parole, bond, or probation
- You must be willing to appear in court until the case is completely out of litigations
- You must provide positive identification
Excluded Charges
Bexar County Pretrial Services is unable to write bonds for specified criminal offenses; first degree felony charges are excluded. A history of bond forfeitures disqualifies a defendant for release through Pretrial.
Please call a Pretrial Screening Investigator to determine eligibility at 210-335-1371.
Procedures
When you call the Pretrial Services Office to obtain a Pretrial Bond, you will need to provide the interviewer with information regarding the person in jail. This information will aid in determining the client’s eligibility to be released.
Before you call, please have the correct spelling of the client’s full name and birth date. The client must have a valid Texas driver’s license or state identification card, and a social security number. In addition, you must provide the client’s address, phone number, place of employment with phone number, and three (3) local references; name, address, and phone number, too.
A personal interview will be conducted if the client is in Bexar County Corrections Center. If the client is not at this facility, the person requesting the release will need to provide the necessary information to qualify the client.
The time of release from jail may vary; the average time for release may be four (4) to six (6) hours from the time of bond approval. When you post bond for someone to be released from jail, please make allowances for unforeseen problems and possible delays.
