Overview
The Bexar County Sheriff's Reserve is a group of dedicated citizen/Deputies that provide support to the Patrol, Judicial Services, CID, Jail, Training, Administration, and Sex Offender Registration units of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
For those just out of the academy, serving as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff provides real world law enforcement experience. For Peace Officers who currently have a primary career other than in law enforcement, the Sheriff's Reserve provides an opportunity for community service through volunteering their time to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office
Compensation
Reserve Deputy Sheriff is a volunteer, non-paid position. Reserve Deputies are permitted to work paid traffic assignments in addition to their monthly duty requirements (additional volunteer hours each month are required to qualify to work paid traffic assignments). The Sheriff's Office issues service weapons, some equipment, and uniforms, if available.
Monthly Requirements
All Reserve Deputies are volunteers that must perform a minimum of 16 duty hours per month in support of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. To qualify to work paid assignments, extra volunteer work hours may be required.
