San Antonio AGC / BCA "Acceleration Connection" Breakfast 

On November 15, 2017, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department held the “ACCELERATION CONNECTION” event. At the “ACCELERATION CONNECTION,” several African American contractors shared information regarding their most recent projects including those involved in the construction of the new Tony G’s. Attendees included members of the AGC (Association of General Contractors) and BCA (Black Contractors Association) as well as local county officials including Judge Nelson Wolff. This event is a direct component of the AABEI created by the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department. Contractors networked, as well as asked questions of local officials all while enjoying food and getting updates on recent projects.

AABEI Stakeholders Briefing

On September 14th the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department held the “AABEI Stakeholders Briefing” at the Freeman Coliseum. Participants gave feedback, asked questions of local leaders in attendance, as well as networked with other AABEs. The action plan of the AABEI was discussed including education, outreach update, SMWBE Website, and capacity building information. The briefing was centered on the AABE Survey, bringing awareness to it as well as the deliverables that were put in place. All attendees received a copy of the survey as well as vital information to accelerate their business.

Financial Management for Your Small Business

On Thursday, August 24, 2017, The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department held the “Financial Management for Your Small Business” event. Attendees received information about growing their business via proper financial practices. Speakers from Aventine Hill and the Bank of San Antonio discussed financial and accounting basics, working capital, and cash flows. Participants were also able to ask questions and get solid answers to their business finance questions. Held at Lift fund, this event was well attended and a direct outcome of the African American Business Enterprise Initiative.
