The Major Crimes Division of the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes cases which are considered to be high-profile, unique, time intensive and particularly complex. Such cases include serial murders, cold case murders, and other complicated cases. These are often among the most difficult cases handled by the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office.
In addition to handling such cases, the Major Crimes Division provides assistance to local and state law enforcement in complex criminal investigations and supervises the anti-gang initiative. The Division also assists with in-house advocacy training.
