Chief Communications Officer

Paul BerryPaul Berry is the Chief Communications Officer and Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring open lines of communication between the Sheriff’s Office and the public. His responsibilities also include internal communication for the more than 1,700 employees in the Sheriff’s Office. As PIO, Berry serves as the primary contact for all media inquiries, serving as a spokesman for the office.

Prior to his appointment by Sheriff Pamerleau to PIO in 2013, Berry worked in the Corporate Communication department at USAA for almost 20 years. His duties included Public Relations, Public Affairs, and Crisis Communications, and Berry also served as USAA’s company spokesman from 2001 – 2012. While at USAA he received numerous awards for his work in communications, including the Bronze Anvil Award, from the Public Relations Society of America, The Gold Reel from the International Television and Film Association, Finalist in the New York City Festivals for Film and Television, the Silver Spur from the Texas Public Relations Association, and numerous Telly Awards.

A native of San Antonio, Berry worked in television news as an anchor, reporter, and producer. He began his television career at KSAT-TV in his hometown, and later worked at stations in Laredo, Texas and Washington, D.C.

Berry earned his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio, Texas.
