Judge Canales is a graduate of Jefferson High School, Texas A&M and Texas Tech Law School. He practiced law for twelve years, seven years as an Assistant District Attorney and five years in private practice, before he decided to run for judge of County Court # 2. He has been the Judge of County Court # 2 for the past twenty-two years. His court handles both criminal and civil cases. County Court # 2 is located on the 2nd floor of the Bexar County Courthouse.
