Judge Bill Donovan was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He joined the U.S. Army in 1965 and served at Ft. Sam Houston until 1967. After service in Vietnam he was discharged from the Army and returned to San Antonio where he completed his education and received both his undergraduate (1970) and law (1972) degrees from St. Mary's University. He practiced law from 1972 until 1983 first with the law firm of Gray & Keene P.C. and then as a partner in his own firm of Donovan & Ferguson.
Judge Donovan was first elected as Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Place 1 in 1984. Reelected for three terms, he served in this position until 1996. Judge Donovan was then elected the Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Place 2 in 1998.
Judge Donovan is licensed to practice law in all Courts of the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Judge Donovan is married to his wife, Barbara. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, reading and horseback riding. |
