DWI “NO REFUSAL” ARRESTS FOR THE PAST WEEKEND
May 13th, 2011 - May 16th, 2011

 

 

San Antonio, Texas: May 17, 2011

District Attorney Susan Reed is targeting drunk drivers in Bexar County, Texas each and every weekend by sponsoring, in cooperation with the various law enforcement agencies, a No Refusal program. Everyone who is arrested over the weekend for a driving while intoxicated offense and refuses to give a sample of their breath will have a sample of their blood taken pursuant to a search warrant.

During the No Refusal program this past weekend, beginning at 6:00 p.m. May 13th through 5:00 a.m. on May 16th there were 75 persons arrested for driving intoxication offenses and 46 blood draws. Below is a breakdown of the arrests by offense:

Driving While Intoxicated: 52
Driving While Intoxicated-Open Container: 7
Driving While Intoxicated-2nd: 8
Driving While Intoxicated-3rd or More: 7
Driving While Intoxicated-with Child Under 15 yrs. old: 0
Intoxicant Assault: 1
Intoxication Manslaughter: 0

The No Refusal program is an initiative of the District Attorney’s Office implemented to keep everyone safe from intoxicated drivers. The District Attorney’s Office encourages everyone to be safe and smart on the roads: don’t drink and drive.
