SAN ANTONIO MAN SENTENCED IN E.B. GAMES MURDER CASE
San Antonio, Texas: April 20, 2010
Today, District Attorney Susan D. Reed announced that Geovany Rivera, age 25, was sentenced to life in prison under a murder charge, by Judge Ron Rangel of the 379th District Court for the murder of E. B. Games store manager Amber Belken, then age 25.
Amber Belken’s life was taken on January 29th of 2007, when she was opening the E.B. Games/Gamestop on 7313 San Pedro. Rivera accosted her in an attempt to rob the store, and suffocated Ms. Belken during a struggle. He later fled to Mexico in an attempt to avoid prosecution.
Rivera was apprehended in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on August 8th of 2008. Rivera was turned over to the United States Marshals who transported him to Laredo, Texas. While in Laredo, Texas, Rivera was interviewed by San Antonio Police detectives and confessed to the murder. He was later brought to San Antonio to face charges.
