HOME INVADER FOUND GUILTY OF AGGRAVATED ROBBERY ON FIVE DIFFERENT VICTIMS
San Antonio, Texas: March 11, 2010
Today, after less than 40 minutes of deliberations, a Bexar County Jury found Deaon Hargrove, age 39, guilty of the offense of Aggravated Robbery.
During the trial, the State presented evidence that Hargrove, along with two other people, committed a home invasion Aggravated Robbery on April 16, 2009. Multiple victims, including children, were made to lie on the floor of a home while the Defendant and two others held them at gunpoint after interrupting a poker party hosted by the homeowner. When the invasion first began, the homeowner managed to dial 911 and leave an open line that allowed the operator to transmit information to responding San Antonio Police officers. As the robbers attempted to leave the home, the police arrested them. Hargrove was arrested at the backdoor of the residence along with an accomplice. A third accomplice fled but was arrested a few houses away. The remaining two accomplices are still awaiting trial.
The trial was held in the 226th District Court before Judge Sid Harle. The Defendant has elected to have his punishment assessed by the judge. The punishment hearing is scheduled for March 31st.
Hargrove had previously been convicted of a prior felony Robbery in Travis County in 1990. Because of this prior felony conviction, Hargrove faces punishment with a minimum of 15 years and up to 99 years or life in prison.
