DISTRICT ATTORNEY FILES GANG INJUNCTION TARGETING LINCOLN COURT GANGSTERS AND LINCOLN COURT KINGS

San Antonio, Texas: August 26, 2009:

Today District Attorney Susan D. Reed filed a Gang Injunction petition requesting a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and a Temporary and Permanent Injunction to create a safety zone in a neighborhood that has been affected by gang activity and drug dealing. The area will be called the “Lincoln Courts Safety Zone.” The safety zone is bordered on the North by Waverly Avenue, on the West by Wilson which then becomes N.W. 24th Street, on the South by W. Martin Street, and on the East by N. Sabinas Street.

The petition alleges that the 25 named defendants, ranging in age from 13 to 30 years old, are members of the Lincoln Court Gangsters or the Lincoln Court Kings, and have regularly associated to commit crimes, ranging from violent offenses to weapons and narcotics offenses, thus creating a public nuisance. The Lincoln Court Gangsters are affiliated with the Bloods gang, with origins in Los Angeles, California. The Lincoln Court Kings are a subset of the Kings gang, with origins in Chicago, Illinois and New York, New York.

District Judge Andy Mireles granted the District Attorney’s request for a Temporary Restraining Order. San Antonio Police Officers, along with Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, have been sweeping the Lincoln Courts area since 12:30 p.m. today serving these gang members with the Temporary Restraining Order. A hearing on the Temporary Injunction is scheduled for September 9, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in the 73rd District Court.

Press packets containing the Temporary Restraining Order and the map of the safety zone are available through the District Attorney’s Office.
