Wedding Photographer Indicted For Theft from Clients

San Antonio, Texas: August 26, 2009:

District Attorney Susan D. Reed announced today that Andre Gant, age 34, was indicted by a Bexar County Grand Jury for Theft $20,000-$100,000, a 3rd degree felony.

The indictment charges Andre Gant with taking tens of thousands of dollars from local couples and failing to deliver their wedding pictures. The State alleges that Gant would appear at local bridal shows and enter into contracts to photograph weddings for as much as $7,000 each. After the contract was signed, and the money paid, Gant would attend the wedding and take photographs. It is alleged that proofs of the wedding pictures would be posted on Gant’s business website for couples to select the pictures for their wedding album. After the pictures were selected, contact with Gant was difficult and then impossible for many of the couples. To the extent proofs were available on the website they were the only photographs they ever saw of their wedding. The State alleges that Gant changed the name of his company numerous times in an effort to avoid detection.

Theft $20,000-$100,000 is a third-degree felony offense, which carries a punishment range of two to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
