ESTRADA REARRESTED

San Antonio, Texas: January 9, 2009

Yesterday afternoon District Attorney Susan Reed filed a motion challenging the sufficiency of the bond and seeking the immediate arrest of Joe Estrada, Jr. and requesting the removal of court appointed counsel.

This morning 186th District Court Judge Maria Teresa Herr acted on the motion and issued warrants for Estrada’s arrest and set a hearing for this afternoon on the motion. Thereafter, Estrada’s newly hired defense attorney filed motions to withdraw as counsel and asking to remove himself from the Defendant’s bonds. These motions were granted by the court.

Additionally, Estrada is expected to be booked on an additional charge filed by the San Antonio Police Department Arson.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is taking Estrada into custody.

Estrada will be magistrated on the new charge.
