SCHOOL BUS DRIVER GETS ONE YEAR IN JAIL FOR KISSING UNDERAGE FEMALE STUDENT

 

San Antonio , Texas ; December 5, 2006: District Attorney Susan D. Reed announced today that Victor Gonzalez, age 61, was convicted of the charge of Official Oppression. 227 th District Court Judge Philip Karen imposed the maximum sentence of one year in the Bexar County Jail. Official Oppression is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable by confinement of up to one year in the Bexar County Jail and up to a $4000 fine.

This charge arose from Mr. Gonzalez' actions as a school bus driver for the Northside Independent School District . While driving a school bus, Mr. Gonzalez had a thirteen year-old female student stay behind on the bus at Zachry Middle School . Once they were alone, the bus driver kissed the student on the forehead and then on the mouth. The student left the bus and told the principal what happened.
