HOT CHECK WRITERS – BEWARE - THERE’S NO TRICK OR TREATING IN THE BEXAR COUNTY COOLER
San Antonio, Texas;
October 25, 2005:
District Attorney Susan D. Reed will have several teams of Investigators along with Bexar County Sheriff’s
Office Criminal Warrant Deputies knocking on doors as early as 5:30 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2005. The teams will be
looking for fugitives with warrants for writing hot checks. Approximately 100 fugitives are targeted for arrest.
Individuals targeted for arrest range from housewives to local businessmen and offenses range from
Misdemeanors to Felonies. The arrest teams will be searching for the fugitives at their home, school, or
place of employment. The District Attorney’s objective is to make it clear that “Writing bad checks is a
serious crime for which you can and will go to jail”.
Anyone with outstanding hot checks may pay through the Check Section of the District Attorney’s Office,
