Projects
Along with the symbolic importance of the creation of the Division of Children and Family Services is the practical importance of its creation. This new Division was immediately tasked with the development and implementation of a "Breaking Cycles" model of prevention, early identification and intervention for children and adolescents "at-risk" for entry into the juvenile probation system and child protective services. The model as currently being developed will be an all-encompassing, integrated system of prevention and treatment which includes all child-serving agencies and organizations. One hallmark of this model will be better access and convenience to community-based social services which serve as a deterrent to future involvement in institutional care (i.e. juvenile probation/detention, Child Protective Services)
Since the creation of the Division, several projects have been initiated which ultimately will lead to better health, well-being and future for the youth of our community. |
