Explorer "Cadet" Program
The Bexar County Constable Office Precinct 1 has re-established its Junior Deputy Constable Explorer Program. The Explorer Program provides an opportunity for young men and women within the County of Bexar to experience first-hand how a Constable's department functions. In addition to first-hand experience, it also gives Cadet Explorers an overall view of what it takes to get started in the challenging career of law enforcement. Cadet Explorers perform a variety of community services such as, graffiti clean up, parades, festivals, and special events.
Occasionally, the Cadet Explorers may be called out to assist sworn Deputy Constables in emergency situations such as searching for evidence, searching for missing children, assisting in major disaster, dispatching, or other duties as required by the Bexar County Constable Office.
The Cadet Explorers on occasion will be given basic training by Certified police instructors on subjects such as, laws of arrest, civil law, traffic law, physical fitness, CPR and first aid, felony traffic stops, and periodically given exams on subjects discussed during training.
Our goal is to teach these young Cadet Explorers to become the future leaders of our community. Some may find careers in law enforcement while others engage in similarly rewarding professions such as elected officials, correction officers, police dispatchers, administrative clerks, or court monitors. Whatever the future holds, be assured that the Cadet explorers will be prepared to meet the everyday challenges awaiting them.
