A major problem that many schools districts encounter are high truancy rates. Absent Student Assistance Program (A.S.A.P)  is a program that started with volunteer deputies visting the homes of absent students.

Students who are chronically absent from school are more likely to dropout of school and become involved with the juvenile justice system than their peers who attend school. The purpose of  A.S.A.P. is to improve school attendance by providing the earliest possible response to absenteeism, thereby reducing dropout rates and detering delinquency.
