Bexar County Justice Support and Human Services offers limited utility assistance with electric, natural gas, butane and propane. Assistance is dependent on the availability of funding. We assist households experiencing extraordinary events or situations resulting from extreme weather conditions or fuel supply shortages. Who qualifies for assistance?
1. You must be a resident of Bexar County. 2. At least one household member must be: 3. The combined gross income (before taxes) of all household members must be at or less than the Poverty Income Guideline set by the Federal Government.
BEXAR COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (CEAP) INCOME GUIDELINES
Income includes the following: ü üNet receipts from non-farm or farm self-employment üTemporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) üRegular payments from Social Security üSupplemental Security Income (SSI) Benefits üRailroad retirement üUnemployment compensation üStrike benefits from union funds üWorker's compensation üTraining stipends üVeteran's payments üMilitary family allotments üGovernment employee pensions including military retirement üPrivate pensions üRegular insurance or annuity payments üAlimony üDividends üInterest üNet rental income üNet royalties üPeriodic receipts from estates or trusts üNet gambling or lottery winnings üOther types of non-Federal assistance not specifically excluded as income
What do you need to qualify? 1.Identification for the Head of Household 2.Social Security numbers for all household members 3.Proof of income for the past thirty (30) days for all household members 4.Utility bill How do you get help? Bexar County gives out appointments every Tuesdays by telephone starting at 9:00 a.m. Appointments are given out on a first call, first served basis. Only a limited number of appointments are given each week. When you call be prepared to provide the social security number for the head of household, a telephone number and the utility bill account number. The phone number to call for an appointment is: (210) 335-6770 You can also mail in a request for an application to be mailed to you. Please send us your name, address, zip code and phone number. Indicate the ages of all household members and identify if anyone is disabled.
