Because of my interest about the rising appraisals and in response to many phone calls to my office by constituents, I invited Mr. John Gaines to Commissioners Court to explain the appraisal process.  Mr. Gaines was also asked to explain why the appraisals went up as much as 19% from the previous year and how the appraisal office reached their property appraisal values.

Because of this presentation, Commissioners Court sent a five signature letter to Lt. Governor Ratliff and Speaker of the House, Rep. Laney in which they suggested the Senate and House create a joint committee to study the state's tax system.
