    The South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce will be honoring five heroes of the south at their annual Legends Gala. The event honors the contributions and commitments of individuals and organizations that have facilitated growth, community and general betterment of the South Side. Serving as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be WOAI’s Randy Beamer. The 2014 Legends Gala honorees include State Representative Joe Farias, Palo Alto College, Rosie Castro, County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson and Dr. Pedro De Leon. Joe Farias is an Army Veteran, and has served San Antonio in numerous capacities over the past 37 years, including his current position of Texas State Representative for District 118. Palo Alto College opened in 1985 and has since continued to bring higher education to the southern sector of Bexar County and the surrounding region.
