Deputy Winford Odel (Mickey) Pattillo died as a result of a traffic accident. Pattillo was on patrol June 6, 1969 in southwest Bexar County when his patrol vehicle struck a 1500 pound Bull. The accident happened on Pearsall Road as Pattillo's vehicle topped a hill. Pattillo's partner, Reserve Deputy Larry Cheever, 22, was treated for abrasions. Pattillo, who died at a local hospital on June 9, 1969 was a veteran law enforcement officer. Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Ann Pattillo and one son, Mickey Odel Pattillo. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.
