LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT THE COURT SECURITY AND TRANSPORT DIVISION:

Some interesting statistics are as follows:

22,105 - prisoners are transported to the Court annually.
Over 100,000 court cases assisted with annually.
3,500 - staff secured annually.

Sequestered Jury:

When a jury is in deliberation, and can not reach a unanimous agreement in a case, the court may keep the jury overnight and house them in a local hotel. It is the duty and responsibility of the bailiff's to insure that the jurors are isolated from the general public. The family members of the jurors are notified by the bailiff and thereafter, no contact is made with the family until the case is resolved. The family members are advised to bring overnight clothing, personal items, medication, etc. The jurors can not watch any news stories, read the newspaper, or come into contact with any information relating to the case that they are hearing.
