Our Mission
The mission of the Bexar County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Division is to preserve County resources by providing efficient, cost effective services for the protection of life and property, which ensure the safety, health, and welfare of our customers and improve the quality of life. This mission is accomplished by the five major sections of the office: Operations, Fire Prevention, Fire Code Enforcement, Fire Investigation, and Emergency Management.
Our Philosophy
The BCFMO acts in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, integrity and accountability in order to support the mission and goals of Bexar County. We affirm that the responsibility for providing safety from fire and related hazards must be a cooperative effort, and we approach our activities in a genuine partnership with fire service, local governments, other Bexar County departments, regulated fire service industries and the public which we serve. We assure the public and regulated communities that we are service-oriented and always strive to fulfill the needs of our customers in a fair and sensible manner. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE ADOPTION OF THE 2009 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE. The Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office will host a public hearing regarding changes to the International Fire Codes on October 2nd at 9:00am and October 9th at 2:00pm in the Central Jury Room located inside the Bexar County Justice Center at 100 Dolorosa, San Antonio, Texas 78207.

Fire-Safe Cigarettes become law in Texas!
Fire-safe cigarette legislation has been passed or introduced in many states. To maintain regulatory uniformity, all states and countries are using the "model" Fire- Safe Cigarette (FSC) regulatory bill based on the New York FSC law. With identical fire safety regulations for cigarettes in all states and countries, cigarette manufacturers can voluntarily produce FSC worldwide.
