Notes for Job Applicants

Welcome to the Bexar County Online Job Application website. Before you begin, please note the following:

Effective September 15, 2008, Bexar County Government upgraded to a new e-Recruitment system.  This new function will improve performance and is more user friendly.
Since this is a new system, all applicants who had previously applied under the old system will need to register and complete a Candidate Profile before applying for newly listed jobs.  Every applicant will need an e-mail address, user id and password.  Your old Applicant Number is no longer valid.

First Time External Applicants (Registration and Password)

  • To view current openings or apply, you must first register to create an account that includes a unique user id, password and e-mail address.  Your password must be at least 6 characters (any combination of numerical or alphabetical).  Please note that your password is case-sensitive.
  • If you do not have an e-mail address, you can click on the link to obtain a free e-mail address from Hotmail.com or Yahoo Mail.  (Each applicant must have a unique e-mail address (i.e. not shared with any other applicant) because that is how you will access your application along with your user id and password.)
  • Click on the link below or under Quick Links to get started.

Present County Employees (Registration and Password)

  • To view current openings or apply, you must first logon with your e-Recruitment user id and password.  Your password must be at least 6 characters (any combination of numerical or alphabetical).  Please note that your password is case-sensitive.

  • If you know your user id and password for e-Recruitment, click on the link below or under Quick Links to get started.
  • You can use your Bexar County e-mail address or your own personal e-mail address.  If you do not have an e-mail address, you can click on the link to obtain a free e-mail address from Hotmail.com or Yahoo Mail.  (Each applicant must have a unique e-mail address (i.e. not shared with any other applicant) because that is how you will access your application along with your user id and password.)

All Applicants (Application Process)

  • To view current openings, click on the Search for Jobs link, and then click on Start Search.  All current openings will appear.  You do not have to complete your Candidate Profile to search for current openings; however, it must be completed to apply for a current opening.
  • If you want to apply for a current opening, after completion of your Candidate Profile, you must submit your application and complete the Background Information Questionnaire.
  • As you enter your Candidate Profile, please save each screen.  In the event you are interrupted while entering, you can return at a later time to complete or edit your information.  The Candidate Profile must be completed before submitting your application.
  • After you complete your Candidate Profile, you can Search for Jobs.  If you want to view all current openings, just click on Start Search.  All current jobs will appear.
  • You can view the job description, minimum qualifications, salary and closing date of the position by clicking on the Job Title under Job Postings.  To apply for that position, click on the square at the beginning of the job to highlight the entire line and click Apply/Display Application.
  • Click on each Tab to complete the information.  The Tabs that are already completed will have a √ in a green box.  That information comes from your Candidate Profile.  You can attach your resume, professional license or any required documents under the Attachment Tab.
  • After you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation letter at your e-mail address.
  • You can check the status of your application by clicking on Application under Jobs.

Returning Applicants

  • Enter your user id and password.  Your password must be at least 6 characters (any combination of numerical or alphabetical).  Please note that your password is case-sensitive.
  • You can view current openings and since you have already completed your Candidate Profile, you can apply for any of the current openings.
  • After you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation letter at your e-mail address.
  • You can check the status of your application by clicking on Application under Jobs.
