
** Soccer Complex Relocates **
May 4, 2010 Bexar County Commissioners voted unanimously to relocate the Mission City Soccer project from Brooks City Park located in Precinct 4 to the Verano development around the new Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus located in Precinct 1.
Under the agreement, the Mission City soccer club will maintain its practice fields at Brooks City Park and use the Verano site for expansion of the club and for tournaments. The University will be able to use this complex of 10 soccer fields for intramural games, club teams and potential varsity programs.

With the kick of soccer balls Wednesday morning, County Judge Nelson Wolff, Commissioner Paul Elizondo and Councilman Ray Lopez officially started the construction of Culebra Creek Soccer park, a Visitor Tax-funded project managed by Alamo City Youth Soccer Organization (ACYSO). The $5.23 million in Visitor Tax funds, along with the City of San Antonio's donation of land and contribution of more than $1 million will provide the organization an opportunity to host tournaments and grow the ranks of young children playing soccer in Northwest Bexar County.
Athletics and competitive sports are vital to a child's development into healthy, well-rounded adult.
Soccer is a great sport and one that is growing by the day in popularity, so I'm happy to have this park in a fast growing part of my precinct and even more so to be partnering with a wonderful organization to complete it."

3rd Annual Pre-Labor Day Shootout
The 3rd Annual Pre-Labor Day Shootout is sponsored by Alamo City Youth Soccer Organization, in conjunction with the Lonestars SCSA, the Dragons Soccer Club, the San Antonio Texans West and sanctioned by the South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA).
The tournament will be held August 28 & 29, and games will be played at STAR Soccer Complex and Alamo Sportsplex in San Antonio Texas.

Missions Baseball Academy proposed 5 full sized baseball fields,2 intermediate sized baseball fields,4 softball/baseball fields along with a facility building for a batting cage,concessions,restrooms and parking.

San Antonio National Swim Stadium proposed a 4,000 seat world class Olympic/competition size outdoor pool built to international/national standards,in addition to a 25y x 50m indoor pool.

St. Marys University Sports Complex proposed a NCAA Division II complex hosting a 2,500-seat baseball stadium/softball bi-plex/soccer bi-plex,and tennis courts.

Southeast Skyline Pony League proposed a 7-field Pony League baseball complex along with ample seating,parking and concessions.
The Fencing Center - $2 Million

The University of Incarnate Word (UIW) proposed a competitive fencing facility in Bexar County to provide a high-quality US Fencing club to the community as well as host regional, national and local US Fencing competitions annually.
San Antonio will preserve the ability to launch young people from every background in an Olympic sport that instills self confidence and personal discipline, and provides access to, and scholarships from, many of the best universities in the U.S.
UTSA Complex - $15 Million

The UTSA Competitive Athletic Complex will include collegiate quality venues currently not available anywhere within the San Antonio Community. Improved athletic facilities could bring thousands of additional youngsters to San Antonio and the UTSA campus to participate in and attend NCAA, UIL, international games and local youth competitions. Getting youngsters on campus opens their eyes to the possibility of going to college.
Wheatley Heights Complex - $7.5 Million
