Community Programs is responsible for providing operational support, coordination and oversight to diverse constituent services delivered by internal departments and external agencies. Community Programs also makes policy and service delivery recommendations for constituent services.

Child Welfare Strategic Alliance
The Child Welfare Board and Texas Department of Family Protective Services participate in activities during the month of April which is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Community Programs negotiates contracts and monitors the following programs. Bexar County leverages resources to the worthy organizations listed below. Services range from meals for seniors to education to serve a wide spectrum of Bexar County's population.
Bexar County Detention Ministries
Vocational job training and job placement services are provided to formerly incarcerated persons.

Catholic Charities Guardianship Court Visitor Program
Establishes guardianship services to mentally incapacitated persons and/or seniors in Bexar County that will allow them to maintain independent living for as long as possible

Christian Senior Services
Homebound meals are delivered to frail and elderly persons in Bexar County through the Meals on Wheels program.

Compadres for Scholarships
Scholarships are made available to 10 youths in the Edgewood Independent School District.

Family Services Association
Outreach, referral and case management services are available to families on Bexar County's West Side. The agency also provides mental health services for all seniors in Bexar County.

Healy Murphy Center
General Equivalency Education (G.E.D) assistance is provided to Bexar County youth.

Keep San Antonio Beautiful
Educates citizens on recycling, litter prevention, graffiti abatement and community stewardship.

Project Quest
Job placement assistance, tuition assistance and other services including testing fees, books, uniforms, transportation, child care and rental assistance are available to Bexar County residents.

San Antonio AIDS Foundation
Ensures nursing/hospice clients receive transportation services, prescription deliveries and hot meals.
San Antonio Education Partnership
Provides college scholarship assistance to ensure a greater access to higher education among low income Bexar County students.

San Antonio Opera
Cultural enrichment through exposure to opera is accessible for 30,000 children.

San Antonio Sports Foundation
Physical health and well being programs are designed for Bexar County Seniors.

Texas Department of Family Protective Services
Co-funds staff for Family Preservation Service Units, adoption completion and clothing for foster care children.

Young Women's Christian Association
Promotes healthy lifestyles for seniors and youth through swimming activities.

Family Services Association sponsored National Night Out 2007. National Night Out is a crime/drug prevention event and this year is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2008. San Antonio Police and McGruff the Crime Dog were there to talk with children and families about various safety issues. The event was held at The Neighborhood Place which provides an efficient and effective network of community services that support community partnerships and working relationships with residents.

The San Antonio Education Partnership sponsors the Road to Success program for high school students and parents. The Road to Success program includes seminars on a wide variety of college aspects from financial aid to campus life, college planning and advising, career paths and many other topics. This year's event was held at Our Lady of the Lake University and over 600 high school students and 100 parents from the San Antonio area attended the event.
