The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office will accept cash or surety bonds at 401 South Frio, San Antonio, Texas while in custody at the Central Magistrate’s Office and at 200 North Comal Street, San Antonio, Texas after they are booked into custody at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
“Cash Bonds” are the full amount of the bond posted by cashier’s check or money order only. All cashier’s checks or money orders should be made payable to the “Bexar County Sheriff’s Office”. No cash, traveler’s checks, or personal checks are accepted. You must have a valid government-issued photo ID.
If a defendant appears in court as scheduled, and the case is disposed of, the court will issue a refund order payable to the defendant only. All cash refunds are processed at the court house.
“Surety Bonds” are bonds posted through attorneys registered with Bexar County and also through approved Bexar County bonding companies that charge a fee for their services.
Each surety bond requires a “Bonding Fee” of $15.00 in a separate money order payable to the “Bexar County Sheriff’s Office”, not to exceed $30.00 for surety bonds filed at the same time for the same individual.
Personal and Pre-Trial Bonds
Release on a Personal or Pre-Trail Bond means that the defendant will be released from custody on his/her promise to appear in court on the scheduled date. Only a judge may grant or approve a defendant’s release on a Personal or Pre-Trial Bond.
Payment of Fines
The payment of a fine requires a money order in the amount of the fine owed, plus a $2.00 cash handling fee.
