Deputy Chief Henry Reyes - Assistant Jail Administrator
DEPUTY CHIEF HENRY REYES serves as the Assistant Jail Administrator of In-Custody Detention Operations. He is responsible for oversight of the Detention Division’s Classification, Booking and Main Jail Operations sections. Reyes reports directly to Chief Raul S. Banasco.
With nearly 15 years of experience in the field of jail operations, Deputy Chief Reyes started his career at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in 1999 and quickly rose through the ranks of the Detention Division. Having served as a Deputy, Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant, he has extensive experience in managing inmate classification systems, gang identification and law enforcement labor-management issues.
Deputy Chief Reyes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University in 2010 on a scholarship from the National Sheriffs’ Association. He earned his Master of Public Administration degree from Wayland Baptist University in 2012, and is working to complete his Master of Arts degree in Management.
He is a Certified Corrections Manager, a Certified Jail Manager and a National Auditor for the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). He is also a certified Master Jailer, Master Peace Officer and Police Instructor.
