Deputy Chief Michael Davis - Training, Policy & Planning

DavisMichael Davis is Deputy Chief of Training, Policy & Planning. He comes to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office from the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG), where he served as the Academy Supervisor at the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputy Chief Davis has more than 18 years of professional experience working in criminal justice organizations, beginning as a County Court Clerk in criminal and civil courtrooms of Bexar County. He served as Detective Corporal for the City of Alamo Heights and police officer for Trinity University and the City of Olmos Park. He also serves nationally and statewide in related areas, chairing the Bexar County DWI Task Force.

Deputy Chief Davis oversees the Alamo Area Regional Information and Intelligence Sharing Network and the Alamo Area Regional Criminal Investigators Training Network (AARIIS Network), an AACOG regional public safety initiative connecting more than 800 criminal investigators across the state online and in person to criminal justice information. Michael Davis is a San Antonio native, attended Central Catholic High School and completed associates degrees in criminal justice and law enforcement.
He earned a master’s degree in occupational workforce leadership studies with an emphasis on professional training and public management from Texas State University in 2013 and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice-law enforcement in 2004 from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He also obtained a graduate Professional Ethics certificate from Texas State University. 

Deputy Chief Davis is a Master Peace Officer and holds an Advanced Police Instructor certification. He is a certified instructor in numerous law enforcement skills. He has been recognized both locally and nationally for implementing education, prevention, rehabilitation and enforcement initiatives.

Deputy Chief Davis’ experience has focused on instructional systems and professional development for law enforcement. His experience, expertise and capabilities are the right match for moving the Sheriff’s Office to the next level of professionalism and training excellence.
