Monica Ramos

Ms. Monica Ramos is the Assistant Public Information Officer for Bexar County. Originally from Eagle Pass, Texas, just on the border of Mexico, Ms. Ramos came to San Antonio to attend St. Mary’s University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 1996 and a Master’s degree in Political Science in 2006.

Her dedication to public service originated during an internship with the San Antonio/Bexar County City-County Government Commission in 1996. She went on to serve as the Public Relations Manager in the City of San Antonio’s Public Works Department. During her tenure, she worked on various public information campaigns and programs including high profile, multi-million dollar programs and projects such as the city-wide Bond Programs, Flood Control Projects, and collaborative projects with the VIA Metropolitan Transit and the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. With a comprehensive background in community engagement and public involvement, she has successfully developed and implemented comprehensive internal/external communications programs designed to engage the community in short term and long term planning efforts.

Her unique combination of public information skills and public infrastructure background enabled her to assist first responders during disaster response and recovery efforts, such as local flooding and ice events as well as the 2002 Karotkin Building collapse and the 2005 housing efforts of Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

Furthermore, in 2008, Ms. Ramos played a role in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Ike by joining the infrastructure team tasked with securing ddamage assessments throughout East Texas for the Office of Rural Community Affairs now known as the Texas Office of Community Affairs.

Joining the County Manager’s Office in the Fall of 2013, Ms. Ramos develops and implements community engagement efforts for the County with an emphasis in Public Works and Information Technology projects and programs.

When not attending community meetings, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 year old little girl, Kaitlyn.
