The Major Crimes Unit prosecutes the most heinous crimes in the San Antonio area. The Unit works with local law enforcement agencies in the most serious cases, including gang-related homicides, capital murders, and officer-involved shootings.
The Major Crimes Unit is headed by seasoned prosecutor, Mary Green. Green, who has nearly 30 years of legal experience, is an expert on prosecuting gang-related crimes which include the Mexican Mafia, Aryan Brotherhood, Texas Syndicate, Hermanos Pistoleros Latinos, Eastside gangs and multiple other local street gangs.
In 2011, the State Bar of Texas named Green Prosecutor of the Year. She has successfully prosecuted a number of high-profile cases, including the Southeast Side rapist and Thomas Eggleston. In 1996, Eggleston murdered his 9-year-old son and dumped his body in the Blanco River.
